| Here are some pictures of Sacred Molecules, taken by Graeme, Darren Cooper and Dave Thompson. If you have any pictures that you would like to share then e-mail them to Graeme |
| First the DNA model, which contained 300 base pairs and was over 13m
long - not enough to reach the ceiling. I loved the lighting of
the model which sat in a searchlight beam and was then side lit by
spots. Note in the close up picture you can see the shadow of the
model on the pillar. I know some people didn't like the DNA GOD
graphics underneath, but it prompted a lot of debate such as is this
God's DNA, what has God got to do with DNA and So you believe this is
the structure of DNA, and you also believe in God. Before you ask
it took 6 hours to build the model from its constituent base pairs and
if you want the sequence I can e-mail it you. Click on these links below to see more pictures on other peoples and press sites DNA1 DNA2 DNA3 DNA4 |

| Here are some pictures of the large molecular sculptures. They started outside of the cloisters and then after the opening Try Science weekend they moved inside. What amazed me was that people were so keen to play with the models. Look at the picture of the water models, it was a young boy who arranged them in this way and when I asked him what he was trying to do he said 'make a water droplet' - fantastic. The Bucky ball was a big hit and I once passed by to find a whole family of 5 sat in the middle, what is it that people want to sit in the middle. |
